What can I expect in my introductory session?
Will the massage be painful?
I make home visits if it's within 4 miles of W3, and if parking is available. You can also come to my treatment room in Acton, W3.
Please allow up to 10 minutes before and after your appointment time for me to set up and pack down. You will have the full time booked for your appointment, ie 1-hour massage therapy will be a full hour of treatment time. Please let me know if you have your own massage table, otherwise, I will bring mine and will need a clear space to set up. I will provide a clean table cover and suitable drapings but am equally happy if you would prefer to use your own. A consultation form needs to be completed for all new clients and quickly reviewed for all existing clients.
You will be asked to complete a short health questionnaire if you haven't filled in one beforehand. This will give me an idea of your general health and fitness, and any current health issues which may be affected by the massage treatment. We can then discuss any particular areas of concern for you that I should focus on to ensure you get the best out of your massage. This initial consultation will last for approximately 10 minutes, which will be counted as part of the one-hour introductory session
How will I feel after the treatment?
Which areas of my body will be massaged?
I will leave the room so you can get undressed in private. You should undress leaving only your underpants on but removing all other items and jewelry. You will then position yourself face down on the massage table which has a face hole for your comfort. Fresh fleece blankets will be available for you to cover yourself with. After a few minutes, I will check that you are ready and properly draped before re-entering.
Raynor Massage is a full body treatment (excluding genital areas) with extra focus on the hands, feet, stomach and head. You will be fully draped throughout the massage using soft fleecy blankets. I will only uncover the area that I am going to be working on.
While this therapeutic massage isn't a 'fluffy' treatment, addressing deep-rooted tension may cause some discomfort as I work to release blockages. We'll discuss your preferred pressure levels before starting, ensuring your comfort throughout. Initial surface tension may lead to discomfort, but subsequent sessions can delve deeper with less discomfort. Ultimately, the focus is on the tremendous sense of well-being you'll feel afterward.
The post-treatment effects of Raynor Massage vary from person to person. Some may feel instantly rejuvenated, while others may experience deep relaxation or even drowsiness. It's common to feel a surge of energy and euphoria, akin to a 'legal high.' The therapy effectively releases toxins stored in muscles, so it's crucial to drink plenty of water afterward to aid detoxification. Avoiding alcohol and caffeine for the rest of the day supports this process. Some tenderness in areas of deep-seated tension is normal after the massage but temporary, subsiding shortly. The relief from releasing residual tension outweighs any mild discomfort.
